Point the remote at your phone camera and press any button. You should see a light flashing on your phone screen (infrared light visible to cameras). If you don't see it, the remote is not transmitting.

Most Sharp AC remotes use 2 AAA batteries. Always use quality alkaline batteries - cheap batteries may leak and damage the remote. Check battery expiration dates.

If your phone has an IR blaster (older Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei models), you can download a universal remote app. Newer phones without IR blasters cannot control AC units unless the AC has Wi-Fi/smart features.
