Excessive Frost or Ice in Freezer

Ice accumulates on freezer walls, drawers stick, frost builds up excessively

Fix Steps:

Check door gasket for tears or gaps - replace if damaged

Ensure freezer door closes fully and is not left ajar

Verify door hinges are tight and door aligns properly

Reduce door openings and duration door stays open

Check if drain hole at back of freezer is blocked - clear with warm water

Ensure defrost timer is advancing properly (listen for click every 8-12 hours)

Verify defrost heater is working (requires multimeter test)

Check if defrost thermostat is functioning

Remove all ice buildup: Empty freezer, unplug 24 hours, keep door open

Check evaporator fan operates when door is closed
Preventive Tip

Manually defrost freezer every 6-12 months. Don't place hot food directly in freezer. Keep freezer at least 70% full for efficiency. Check door seal every 3 months.
