Fix Steps:

Clean or replace air filter immediately - dirty filter is #1 cause

Check temperature setting - if room is already at set temp, unit will cycle off

Ensure proper sizing - oversized units short-cycle

Verify unit is not in "Energy Saver" or "Auto" mode - use "Cool" mode

Clean evaporator and condenser coils with coil cleaner

Ensure outdoor portion (if applicable) has clear airflow

Check refrigerant levels - low refrigerant causes short cycling

Verify thermostat is not near heat source or in direct sunlight

Ensure adequate clearance around unit (3 feet minimum)
