Some Rooms Too Hot While Others Too Cold

Temperature varies significantly between rooms, some rooms don't cool properly

Fix Steps:
1
Check and clean all air registers and vents - ensure none are closed or blocked
2
Balance airflow by adjusting dampers in ductwork (requires access to ducts)
3
Verify return air vents are not blocked by furniture or curtains
4
Check filter is clean - dirty filter reduces airflow to distant rooms
5
Inspect ductwork for leaks, especially in unconditioned spaces like attics
6
Ensure all rooms have adequate return air path (gap under doors or transfer grilles)
7
Close vents partially in rooms that get too cold to redirect air
8
Check insulation levels in attic and walls of problem rooms
9
Verify thermostat location is central and not near heat sources
10
Consider zoning system if temperature variance is severe
Preventive Tip

Balance system professionally during installation. Change filter monthly during peak season. Seal duct leaks professionally. Install return air paths in all rooms. Annual duct inspection.
